Easter Cruise to Geelong

26.3.2008

A number of Hidden Harbour boats joined the Boating Victoria Easter cruise to Geelong over the Easter weekend. Vessels included: Shaw Thing, Promocean, Ambition, Blue Tango, Kariba, Chillin, Diamond Lil.

Boating Victoria arranged berthing at RGYC and most of the group arrived on Good Friday. It wasn’t long before the festivities were in full swing aboard Diamond Lil with the group being treated to a “Scotch Tasting” with  Graham McDonald bringing out his collection of fine old Scotch and comparisons were then made to John Owen’s finest home brew. The results were very interesting and most amusing. That evening the group enjoyed the Barbeque facilities at RGYC.

The next day was a “free” day and some went into Geelong to catch up on some shopping, others just took the opportunity to rest up before the evening festivities kicked off again. That evening the group enjoyed dinner and dancing with a live band at RGYC.

On Sunday the group were picked up by bus for a tour of three wineries and  lunch at the Portarlington Hotel.

Dinner that evening was a DIY affair and on Monday most of the boats departed for their home ports. All attending agreed that it was a successful boating weekend.
